Today I went for the interviews for LSCT GL. Before I unfold this saga of events that happen in there, let me tell you about how serious my school takes SARS. we have to go and have our heads (yes heads, not mouth or ass or armpit) scanned for out temperature. I found my body sticked by two stickers (one got lost) by the time I went home. Then I must wear this ugly lanyard all around. Dr Hedy, our ever cheerful directer of HLM, saw me not with the sticker and the lanyard and she was like 'why are you not wearing the lanyard' and I was like 'oh I came here to visit (yes, I just came here for the interview)' and she was like 'no no you still have to wear the lanyard'. Okay fine. I'll wear it! (No, I did not tell her that of course.) The clerk at the LSCT office told me nicely to have my temperature taken before I go in the office (even though my whole body is in there like 1 mins liao). This reminds me of the story about the many people who got debarred from exams because they went for holidays during the SARS 'holidays'. Yes its a 'holiday' but that diesn't mean you go to Hong Kong or Indonesia or China??? Crazy asses. When they return they found themselves having to skip school for ten more days quarrantine. You see what happens when you get so stuck up?
Then there's this really nice teacher who told me that the LSCT staff does not know amything about the LSCT GL recruitment drive. She was like 'hey we don't know anything about the LSCT GLs, they just threw all these application forms here and left!'. She was trying to save my trip to the thermometers but I guess she did not notice my sticker. After some searching (the answer to where the mystery interview room is was nicely stuck on the glass windows.) She gave some directions on how to go there. Happy to be in such a helpful school.
Thankfully with the help of the directions (and some of the school's helpful spirits) I found myself at the door. I opened it to find seven GLs looking at me and me looking at them. I almost slamed the door immediately and went out to have a breather (like those jap animes).
To those not from LSCT, GLs mean Group Leader and its something like councillors or student leaders in JC.
Blesses there was this nice female GL who came to me and asked me if I'm here for the interview (duh) and I was like so nervous already because I did not know any of them. When I was at the hot seat they were staring so hard I can barely breathe (actually, they were not staring, but you know the 'interviewee mentality theory'). They the questions started popping. They ask those expected questions like 'Why do you want to join GLs' and 'Tell me more about you' and 'What CCA was you in' and 'What makes you think you can be a GL'. I spent such a long time advertising on my previous CCA which I love so much (if you don't know, my dear reders, is Red Cross) I guess my enthusiasm almost scared their asses. There's even a GL who told me 'if it is so good why don't you join it?'. Thank goodness another GL asked me another question. Then came the part where they ask me to give a cheer (which is expected, of course) and goodness I was all quiet for one minute and I don't know what to do, my legs are wobbly and I feel I will puke any moment (just like when somebody say a very disgusting and lame joke). Then a shouted the cheer. Not my best performance but good enough. I hope. Before the cheer a GL asked me to say their names. I already told them at first I'm not good at remembering names. Minus marks for that I guess. Before I leave the room I told them again that I still cannot recite their names. Sorry guys (and gals).
Putting that aside, my CATS project got quite a high mark ( I think we are the best in our class) and everything is going well. Joyce was sick (I think. She was not in the S & W class as well as CATS) but I know she'll preserve. Everyone knows what they are to do.
Phyllotaxy (grouping plants based on how the leaves are arranged on the stem) sucks in a good way. I love my course alot. When you think you know everything, you find yourself back at square one, knowing nothing. You just got to work hard for what you want.
Life might just get even better.
Cheers.
