After Work Pains

It is freaking tiring to work as an event host. As an event host, there are 2 reasons why you get tired.

1) You slack and do nothing, standing at one place for 12 hours. That will kill even the most seasoned of uniformed groups people (which I was) Time crawls to a halt. You'll feel what hell feels like.

2) You be garang and on and go around helping people, taking photos, saying 'welcome to Sentosa' and keep smiling. Yes, this is the better way, time goes faster, but you'll find at the half day your cheeks become numb and you lose all your abilities to smile at all (which I did). Not to mention that pain in your legs. If choice 1 is mental torture, choice 2 is physical torture.

Being an event host taught me some important values.

Random thoughts:
1) Always smile. You are never alone. You'll never know you are being watched by Sentosa Sentries or Tourists Tacteyes.
2) They know your name. So behave.
3) When you wear a uniform, you are representing the organisation. So be responsible. (Actually, I learnt that many years ago.)
4) This is the first job that I do what I'm paid to do, no more, no less. In other words, I love it!
5) I hate leaders who slack. Leaders, in my opinion, should suffer more than the normal people, not chatting around with girls and wasting company resources (aka pay money)
6) Winning an argument doesn't mean you win. Similarly, losing an arguement doesn't mean you lose.
7) When juggling lots of things, somethings get muddled or forgottened. Don't despair.
8) Know your roles, responsiblities and stuff that you need to know.
9) 'Have a nice day' can only be used before 6 pm, after which you go with 'Have a pleasant evening'. Wy can't evening be nice?
10) Hating someone doesn't mean you need to show it, or do something to prove it.
11) Being friendly never hurt anyone.
12) Admit that there are people with faster reflexes, and resign to Fate, do not blame yourself for losing to them.
13) Never deprive yourself of anger. Feeling anger doesn't mean you need to show it externally. It can mean facing it internally.
14) Be sure of yourself
15) Never use disposable ponchos. You can feel the rain.

lastly,
16) Know where you stand.
